You might learn a few things about how the San Diego Botanical Garden is sustaining the environment from a few of the Pot Heads you come across there.
Adding to the whimsy of the wonderfully interactive Hamilton Children’s Garden, the San Diego Botanical Gardens created informative “Pot Head” displays to help educate the visitors about some of the interesting products and plants they will see while in this part of the garden.
Mounting a Crescent Garden Madison planter on to a wooden post as the head, using metal washers for eyes, rebar for arms, and painting a wooden board as the informative “t-shirt”, these Pot Head docents will have the kids giggling while they learn.
Using drought tolerant plants to create a crazy head of “hair”, these planters also provide the visitor with good options for container gardens in areas where irrigation or natural rainfall is limited.
These douple-walled rotational molded planters were placed in the children’s gardens when they opened in 2009 and were the brain-child of Landscape Design team Deneen Powell Atelier.
Deneen Powell Atelier are known for Immersive Experiential Design and have extensive work designing for botanic gardens around the country.
