Summer, Succulents, and Seashells:

Wondering what to do with all those sea shells you brought home from the beach? Here’s a fun project you can get done in less than an hour this summer combining those shells with heat-loving succulents.

Here’s what you will need:

  • An assortment of succulents, the quantity depending on the size Daniel Bowl that you use
  • Container potting mix for succulents or cactus
  • Fine black sand
  • Clean sea shells
  • Crescent Garden’s Daniel Bowl planter
  • A small paint brush to clean sand off the leaves

Fill planter with soil but leave about one to two inches from the top. Place plants on top of the soil, only planting the root ball halfway. Water until soil is damp. Then fill in the spaces around the root ball with the black sand and also cover the top of the root balls with a thin layer of black sand. Gently brush off any sand on the succulent leaves. Place sea shells among the succulents.

Tip: Succulents like to be dry!
